When purchasing a missal, consider the following information:

Release date:Try to find a missal published between 1945 and 1962, and certainly not later. An earlier publication date will not include additional holidays added to the universal calendar or the revision of the 1955 Holy Week celebrations. Persons considering purchasing a Missal should consider the disadvantage that it would be to not have these texts, especially when there is an opportunity to attend Holy Week ceremonies in a church or chapel using the revised liturgy, or vice versa, for those using the older liturgy. Avoid any missal published after 1965 unless it is a modern reprint of a version published up to 1962.

Latin and English:The manuals differ in the amount of text given in Latin and English. While most have a bilingual text of the Messiah Ordinary side by side, the texts of the prayers themselves (i.e., the variable parts) can only be in English. Before buying it is important to decide if it is important that you have all the texts in both languages.

The Daily Missal of Saint Andrewit is the original 1945 reprint with no revisions. One of the most famoustridentine missalsThe Latin and English texts are found side by side throughout the Missal. The Ordinary of the Mass contains the rubrics printed in red that the priest follows as he offers the Mass. Each party includes a brief narration of the saint of the day. The Missal also contains Vespers for Sundays and other feasts.

Note that several post-1945 measurement changes are not included in this version, particularly the major changes for Easter. The Baronius Press Missal contains English translations and the original Latin versions of the rites and texts of the Holy Mass and many other liturgical ceremonies attended by the vast majority of Catholics in the centuries before the reforms came into force. Keep in mind that all the manual mess books currently available in print have too small print in some parts, but are written quite clearly.
